Ute has dedicated her career to the pursuit of better environmental protection and a more sustainable energy system. She is currently Senior Programme Leader in the Renewable Energy Division of the International Energy Agency (IEA) here in Paris. She is in charge of the IEA’s work on renewable heat and on renewable energy policies. Prior to joining the IEA in October 2015, she spent 6 ½ years at the Committee on Climate Change, the UK government’s advisory body. Previously she worked on energy and climate change issues for the Greater London Authority, as well as several non-governmental organisations and academic institutions. She tries to stay optimistic about the future, despite the mounting evidence about climate change and other environmental damage.
